Chubu

Yamanashi and Nagano are the most wine-producing regions in Japan, with Yamanashi in first and Nagano in second place in terms of production. Both prefectures have many basins and their slopes are covered with vineyards. Nagano offers both European (Merlot, Chardonnay, etc.) and North American (Concord, Niagara, etc.) varieties. In addition to wine, cider, an apple liquor, is also delicious.

Yamanashi is the birthplace of winemaking in Japan. Koshu" for white wines and "Muscat Bailey A" for red wines are the most widely produced varieties, both of which are endemic to Japan and recognized around the world.
